Meet The Team

The BIOTRONIK Home Monitoring® is a pioneering and award-winning remote cardiac monitoring system. Designed to minimise patient effort, it sends daily, automatic cardiac device data to the patient device that then forwards the information to the Home Monitoring Service Center (HMSC). Home Monitoring not only allows the patient's physician to review cardiac function, it also sends alerts about relevant changes in the patient's health and the device’s status. Thus, Home Monitoring allows the continuous monitoring of both the patient’s condition and the device.

The Benefits of BIOTRONIK Home Monitoring

Remote patient management with Home Monitoring offers the opportunity to deliver event-driven care, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Various studies demonstrate that Home Monitoring significantly improves clinical outcomes and survival compared to periodic, in-person device follow-up.

One of the largest and the most contemporary studies is IN-TIME, which showed a substantial decrease in mortality for patients with heart failure of more than 50%.

Home Monitoring also has been also shown to reduce Hospitalizations caused by atrial arrhythmias or strokes by 66%.

Early Detection of Unpredictable and Silent Events: The inability of standard care regimes to quickly detect health issues can delay therapeutic interventions and preventable disease progression.

Reducing the number of in-office follow-ups

Past guidelines recommended the in-person follow-up of device patients every three to six months, which is time- and resource-intensive for patients and healthcare providers. Relying solely on in-office visits may deny valuable and potentially life-saving information from healthcare providers for 90 to 180 days. BIOTRONIK Home Monitoring offers a convenient, easy to use option to reduce the number of in-office follow-ups.

With BIOTRONIK Home Monitoring, healthcare providers have a complementary option to routine follow-up visits, while maintaining in-person follow-ups every 12 months. It allows follow-up appointments to be catered to each patient, so that patients are seen when needed, rather than on a pre-set schedule.

To see trial results of the various BIOTRONIK Home Monitoring studies such as TRUST (45% reduction of in-office visits for ICD patients) and COMPAS (56% fewer clinic visits for pacemaker patients) please see our clinical studies section.
